Wengen in summer

Wengen is the ideal starting point for hiking and excursions in the Jungfrau region and other parts of Switzerland. A total of 500 km of footpaths extend over the Jungfrau region. Village walks through Wengen and Mürren, scenic hikes along Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau up to climbing routes at the Rotstock of the Eiger north face and the Via Ferrata in Gimmelwald.

Our top excursions

The closest and most famous attraction from Wengen is the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe, the highest railways station in Europe (3550 metres above sea level) with view on the Aletsch glacier, the longest of the Alps.

Another highlight is the visit of the rotating panorama restaurant on the Schilthorn summit (2970 metres above sea level) with an incredible view over all summits of the Bernese Alps. Did you know that James Bond was visiting the Schilthorn in 1969 in the movie "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service"?

The "Royal Ride" on the open air balcony of the cablecar from Wengen to the Männlichen mountain with the best view on Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Visit the Lauterbrunnen Valley with its 72 waterfalls in- and outside the massive walls. The Staubbach fall and the Trümmelbach falls are listed as two of the most impressive waterfalls in Switzerland.

Relax on a ship cruise on lake Thun and lake Brienz with the city of Interlaken in between the two lakes for a shopping stop.

The Swiss Open air museum Ballenberg is a stroll through the past. More than one hundred century-old buildings from all over Switzerland, 250 farmyard animals, traditional, old-time gardens and fields, demonstrations of local crafts and many special events create a vivid impression of rural life in days gone by.

The St. Beatus Caves reach into the imposing massif of the Niederhorn. It took millions of years to create, but you can experience it on one day.

Visit the Haslital at the end of lake Brienz with the famous Aare Gorge.

Enjoy the cities Thun, Berne and Lucerne with its historic old towns and the typical Swiss flair.
